Why Karate?

  • Instructors: We foster a welcoming and supportive environment, with fully accredited instructors.
  • Win-Win = Building Confidence: In many sports, performance feedback often hinges on winning or losing against competitors, which can sometimes dampen self-confidence for children who don't frequently win. However, in karate, where the only competitor is oneself, participants continuously strive for personal improvement. With each week of progress, children experience a consistent sense of achievement, fostering a robust sense of self-esteem.
  • Measured Progress: Karate introduces a structured progression through its colored belt system, starting from White and culminating in the prestigious Black belt. This journey not only tracks a child's advancement but also offers a tangible path to follow. By setting goals for each belt color, children learn essential life skills such as goal-setting and perseverance, enriching their personal growth along the way.
  • Bullying: Bullying can leave lasting scars on children, impacting their lives well into adulthood. Karate offers a powerful solution, benefiting both those who face bullying and those who perpetrate it. By nurturing self-esteem and confidence, karate empowers bullied children, often putting an end to the torment. Instructors also equip children with strategies to handle bullying, encouraging open communication with parents and school authorities. For shy children, karate serves as a beacon of guidance, providing them with tools for self-defense and a supportive network to address their struggles.

FAQ'S

My Child is Shy, How do I Get Them to Overcome That?

Many children often experience feelings of shyness and apprehension when encountering new environments, such as joining a martial arts club. The prospect of unfamiliar faces, bustling activity, and novel experiences can indeed seem daunting. However, our club is equipped with dedicated full-time coaches, assistant coaches, and a supportive leadership team, all adept at engaging with shy students.

If your child feels more comfortable initially observing rather than participating, that's perfectly acceptable. We encourage parents to accompany their children to a few sessions, providing a sense of security and familiarity. With patience and encouragement, it won't be long before they eagerly anticipate each class!

My Child is Super Energetic & Finds it Hard to Sit Still

Our programs operate on a reward-based system, utilizing belts and tagging to maintain focus among participants. Children thrive on praise and recognition for their efforts, and our instructors excel at providing motivation. They skillfully channel a child's innate energy levels to elicit their optimal performance.

Will Martial Arts Make My Child Violent?

Absolutely not! One of our primary rules is strict: absolutely no kicking or punching other individuals. Instead, we emphasize self-defense as a means for personal growth and development, teaching both children and adults valuable skills. Central to our teachings is the principle of treating others with the same respect they desire for themselves. Furthermore, we instruct children on how to handle situations non-violently. Parents often witness a remarkable transformation in their child's behavior after joining our training programs. Through our guidance, children learn to cultivate respect for others and refrain from resorting to violence.

Will This Prevent My Child From Being Bullied?

Certainly, they'll experience a rapid boost in confidence, reducing their likelihood of becoming targets. Within just a few months, they'll acquire essential skills that can significantly enhance their safety in any situation where it's needed.

What Can I Expect From My First Class?

We encourage all new members to arrive at their first class 15 minutes before the scheduled start time. This gives the Instructor an opportunity to meet the new students and explain the basic format of the first class. Generally speaking, the first few classes will involve an introduction to the basic striking, blocking and kicking techniques and these will be practiced at moderate speeds until the student’s coordination develops. Essentially, students can progress at their own speed based on their own personal level of fitness and flexibility.
